Woman robs grocery store and uses children to aid in her escape Wednesday night

On Wednesday, April 26th, 2023, at 8:30 pm, the Turlock Police Department was dispatched to a reported robbery that had just occurred at Walmart Neighborhood Market, 2480 Geer Rd, Turlock.

When officers arrived on scene, they contacted employees who stated that they saw a woman leaving the business with a shopping cart full of unpaid merchandise, so one of them confronted her.

Stanislaus Coroner’s Office looking for family of Modesto woman found in canal

The Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office is looking for the family of a Modesto woman who was found in an irrigation canal last month.

Fannie Holmes, 71, was found March 27 in the canal near the bridge that connects the Virginia Corridor Trail to Stoddard Avenue. There were about three inches of rainwater in the canal.

An empty alfalfa field in west Turlock soon will be transformed into a high-tech facility that turns food waste into renewable fuel.

State and local dignitaries gathered on West Main Street for the groundbreaking of the newest Divert food waste recovery plant. The company turns unsold food from supermarkets, retailers, restaurants and manufacturers into natural gas that can be used to power homes and businesses.

Man on probation arrested after caught with over 1,000 pills, drugs in Turlock

A man is now behind bars after a traffic stop led to drugs and a stolen gun in Turlock.

According to the Turlock Police Department, officers were patrolling the Venice Motel parking lot when they spotted someone believed to be on probation with an active arrest warrant.

Drunk driver arrested after crashing into parked car and being found with narcotics Tuesday night

On Tuesday, April 18th, 2023, at 10:54 pm, the Turlock Police Department was dispatched to a reported vehicle collision in the 600 block of S Orange St, Turlock, with the responsible driver attempting to flee the scene.

When officers arrived on scene, they found two vehicles involved. The first was a blue 2009 Pontiac Vibe and the second was an orange 2016 Dodge Challenger.

Woman, suspected of car theft, is arrested after 80-mph pursuit in Stanislaus County

Stanislaus County sheriff’s deputies pursued a suspected stolen car Saturday on East Keyes Road, with the chase ending in a crash north of Turlock.

During the 3 p.m. pursuit, the woman driving a suspected stolen vehicle drove east at 80 mph and ran stop signs on Keyes Road as she was pursued by two deputies, Sgt. Leland Lawson said.

Drunk driver arrested after crashing into roundabout, pushing off-duty officer, and fleeing scene early Sunday morning

On Sunday, April 16th, 2023, at 1:35 am, the Turlock Police Department was dispatched to a reported weapon offense that had just occurred at the intersection of N Berkeley Ave and E Springer Dr, Turlock, after a man had reportedly brandished a knife at an off-duty officer with a nearby agency after having been involved in a collision.

While officers were responding, they received an update that the man was displaying objective symptoms of being under the influence, had pushed the off-duty officer, and was fleeing the area on foot.
