Man Arrested after Allegedly Leading Deputies on Pursuit in Stolen Vehicle

“On Tues., Dec 26th, 2023, at about 11 AM, deputies located a gray SUV which had been previously reported stolen. The car was first spotted on Rouse Ave in unincorporated West Modesto.

Deputies attempted to conduct an enforcement stop; however, the driver fled & a short pursuit ensued. In an effort to safely end the pursuit, deputies tried a police intervention technique that caused a patrol car to collide with a utility box on the side of the roadway of Kerr Ave in the Airport District.

Teenager shot days before Christmas on Camellia Way in Modesto has died, police say

A 17-year-old girl that was shot in Modesto died at a local hospital on Friday after spending more than a week in critical condition, police said.

The shooting happened on the 100 block of Camellia on Dec. 20. The street block is bordered by Miller Avenue on the north and Highway 132 on the south — near the Modesto Gospel Mission.

A high-speed chase in Stanislaus County recently ended dramatically with law enforcement deploying a PIT (Pursuit Intervention Technique) maneuver to stop a fleeing suspect's vehicle. The pursuit, which took place late on a Tuesday morning, came to a close near Yosemite Boulevard and Kerr Avenue, not far from Modesto's heart. The suspect in question, 31-year-old Modesto resident Roberto Daniel Acosta, faced a harrowing conclusion to the chase when his vehicle crashed into a fence.

Homicide suspect arrested in Modesto. Second with ties to region remains at large

A woman has been arrested in Modesto in connection with a 2021 shooting death in Hollister.

Rebecca Nunez, 28, was arrested when a high-risk search warrant was served at an apartment in a complex on the 100 block of East Orangeburg Avenue, near McHenry Avenue. The warrant was served Thursday by the San Benito Sheriff’s Office with assistance from the San Benito County Probation Department and the Modesto and Ceres police departments.

Woman arrested in connection to 2021 murder in Hollister

A woman has been arrested in connection to the murder of Adolfo Davila Jr. in Hollister back in 2021.

Rebecca Nunez was taken into custody in Modesto on Thursday for accessory to murder and the murder of Davila Jr., according to a press release from the San Benito County Sheriff's Office.

Traffic Stop Leads To Man Arrested For Various Gun Law Violations

Early this morning, December 15, at just before 4am, Officer Ruiz conducted a traffic stop on a suspicious vehicle with out-of-state with plates for vehicle code violations.

It was later determined the vehicle’s registration had been expired for several years and in result, the vehicle was towed.

33 guns stolen from gun show at Stanislaus County Fairgrounds

 The Turlock Police Department is searching for two suspects who took over 30 guns from a gun show at the Stanislaus County Fairgrounds on Dec. 10.

Around 4:30 a.m., police said it received a call from a security guard, who reported to authorities that two armed and masked people entered a building where the gun show was taking place.

This California City Has Been Named the Drug Overdoses Capital of the State

San Francisco, the city of the Golden Gate Bridge, cable cars, and tech innovation, has also earned a dubious distinction: it has the highest rate of drug overdoses in California, and one of the highest in the nation.

According to data from the California Department of Public Health, San Francisco recorded 713 fatal drug overdoses in 2020, more than double the number of deaths from COVID-19 in the same year. The city’s overdose death rate was 81.2 per 100,000 residents, far surpassing other large cities in the state such as Los Angeles (26.1), San Diego (24.6), and San Jose (12.3).
