1 killed in Turlock double shooting, investigation underway

Turlock police are investigating a double shooting that left one dead and another hurt Tuesday evening, according to officials. 

The Turlock Police Department says they are investigating in the 700 block of Wayside Drive and have blocked off roads in the area. Wayside Drive is closed between Kenwood Avenue and N. Olive Avenue with no current estimated time of reopening.

Another 4,000 marijuana plants seized in Stanislaus County

Nearly two weeks after law enforcement busted thousands of marijuana plants and guns in several Stanislaus County homes, another illegal grow operation was discovered.

On Wednesday, Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department said it acted on a search warrant at a residence on the 1100 block of North Carpenter Road in Modesto. During the search, “a large illegal marijuana grow was in operation and 4,000 plants were seized.”

 An animal cruelty investigation led to the recovery of 73 dogs, according to the Turlock Police Department.

On Sunday, the Turlock Police Department served a search warrant at three residences in the 400 block of S. First Street in Turlock for alleged animal cruelty and dogfighting. Detectives said the investigation began in early March after Turlock Animal Services expressed concerns.

At about 12:41am Monday, Turlock Police, Turlock Fire, and American Medical Response responded to a traffic collision with injuries in the 400 block of E. Christoffersen Parkway.

Keyes Fire Assistant Chief Heydon Bailey had come across a man down in the roadway who’d obviously been struck by a vehicle.

Turlock police bust sophisticated black-market cannabis operation across three cities

The Turlock Police Department's S.W.A.T. team and supporting agencies served search warrants in three cities on Tuesday following an investigation into a sophisticated illegal black-market cannabis cultivation operation.

The Special Investigations Unit began the investigation last month, which revealed multiple addresses affiliated with the target location with 5 in the sheriff’s office jurisdiction, 2 in the city of Turlock, and one in the city of Ceres.

Two Modesto men killed, three people injured in collision during Ceres police pursuit

Two Modesto men were killed and two were seriously injured during a pursuit of a vehicle by the Ceres Police Department on Thursday night, according to a California Highway Patrol release. A Hughson resident also suffered major injuries.

Osvaldo Calles, 20, and Fernando Barajas-Reyes, 20, both were ejected from a 2016 Ford Fusion when it collided with a 2016 Ford Mustang as it entered the intersection of Keyes Road and Geer Road at about 9 p.m., according to the CHP. The area is among farmland about four miles north of downtown Turlock.

Assault Weapon, Open Alcohol Container Reportedly Discovered During Enforcement Stop

Two individuals were arrested on various charges after initially being pulled over for expired registration in Turlock.

According to a press release by the Turlock Police Department, an officer stopped a vehicle on northbound South Golden State Boulevard for expired registration. The officer made contact with the driver, identified as Valintina Guerra, 33, of Modesto and one of the passengers, identified as Mario Torres, 19, of Delhi.

California serial bank robbers busted after 6 heists in multiple cities, police say

A bank robber and his getaway driver have been caught after carrying out a string of heists across Northern California, authorities said Wednesday.

Antioch residents Brandon Lopez, 37, and 43-year-old Tamara Bush are linked to at least six bank robberies or attempted robberies in San Jose, Modesto, Milpitas, Fremont and Sacramento, the San Jose Police Department said.
