Pedestrian killed in hit-and-run on Geer Road identified as Turlock man

The pedestrian who died in a hit-and-run collision on Monday night has been identified by the Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office.

William Hanson, 36, of Turlock, was hit by a white SUV that was traveling south in the 1200 block of Geer Road around 11:44 p.m.

Woman killed, teen arrested for DUI in Turlock area crash

A 17-year-old was arrested for DUI and gross vehicular manslaughter after a woman in his vehicle died when he ran a stop sign and crashed into a cattle trailer in the Turlock area Sunday afternoon, the California Highway Patrol said. 

At about 3:30 p.m., the CHP received a report of a crash a Fulkerth Road at Faith Home Road. This is where they found a two-vehicle crash.

Turlock Transit Bus Driver Arrested On Juvenile Molest Charges

On Tuesday, Turlock Police responded to a suspicious incident at Dutcher Middle School in the 1400 block of Colorado Avenue.

The caller was a campus supervisor who had observed an odd encounter between a student and an unknown man, who had handed food and clothing to the student near the school’s perimeter fence.

New details in death of woman who was assaulted and left on Modesto highway off-ramp

The investigation continues for police into a brutal domestic violence and homicide case in Modesto.

This incident happened Friday night when Modesto Police said they responded to the area of 6th Street at the Highway 99 northbound off-ramp to help CHP with a possible hit-and-run crash between a vehicle and a pedestrian.

The vehicle fled the scene, and police said the woman was found on the ramp. She was sent to the hospital, where she later died from her injuries.

Drunk Driver Arrested After Erratic Episode At Restaurant

At about 10:23pm Monday, Turlock Police responded to a trespass in progress at Applebee’s in the 2500 block of Fulkerth Road.

The caller reported that a man was sitting in a booth ordering food, saying he couldn’t pay for it. He was also trying to go into the kitchen with his small dog, mumbling to himself.

Stanislaus area has a shortage of childcare services. What’s the county doing to help?

The mission of Stanislaus 2030 includes bolstering job opportunities, yet a significant obstacle lies in the shortage of childcare services within the county. To fulfill the demands of the workforce, the county needs to create an additional 36,000 childcare slots. The need is greater for more rural areas with higher Latino populations.

Nurture, a nonprofit organization committed to fostering in-home childcare entrepreneurship, partnered with Stanislaus 2030, the comprehensive plan to boost the county’s economic potential, to establish a pilot program. It tackles the deficit of childcare by helping individuals establish such businesses.
