Labaco wins area speech contest

Kylee Labaco, a Whitmore Charter High School junior, was declared the winner of the Area 12 Rotary Speech Contest held Feb. 26 at the Ceres Unified School District board room.

Labaco competed against first-place finishers in contests at the Turlock and Modesto club levels. The first-place finish came with a $175 prize.

Also competing was Turlock High School senior Nienebra Varani who claimed second place and won a $125 prize for her passionate speech.

Man Arrested On Warrant After Reportedly Urinating Inside Denny’s

At about 9:47pm Friday, Turlock Police responded to a disturbance in progress at Denny’s in the 1900 block of Lander Avenue.

The caller reported that Jorge Perez, 58, of Turlock, had come into the business, urinated on the floor, and tried to hit the manager before fleeing southbound Lander Avenue on foot.

Large illegal marijuana operation and guns seized in Modesto

A search warrant in Modesto led to the discovery of a large illegal marijuana grow on Friday, according to the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office Marijuana Enforcement Team (MET) executed the search warrant on a residence on the 500 block of Glenn Avenue in Modesto, officials said. During the search, a large illegal marijuana grow was in operation along with six firearms within the residence.

Police arrest two after finding over 200 pounds of drugs, nearly $100k in Stanislaus County

 The Modesto Police Department said it arrested two Stanislaus County men on Wednesday after a traffic stop and search warrant revealed over 200 pounds of methamphetamine, nearly 80 pounds of cocaine, 4 pounds of heroin, and over $90,000.

Police said that the two men, 46 and 23 from Ceres, have each had their bail set at $2 million and face a variety of possession charges relating to drugs and guns.

Turlock Home Raided In Large Motorcycle Gang Investigation

Woman, two dogs die as result of Turlock single-vehicle crash

A 40-year-old woman and two dogs died Wednesday as the result of a rollover crash in Turlock, according to authorities.

Turlock resident Brandi Kane was driving a Hyundai Tucson westbound on West Linwood Avenue, approaching South Washington Street, when she crashed around 3:15 p.m., according to Turlock police. No other vehicles were involved.

4 arrested, 50 guns seized in operation involving Hells Angels locations in Stockton, Turlock

 Four people were arrested and 50 guns were seized after 12 tactical teams were deployed during a motorcycle club operation in California's Central Valley on Wednesday.

CBS13 first reported law enforcement agencies conducted a raid of two locations connected to the Hells Angels biker club.

The first location was along E. Miner Avenue in Stockton. California Highway Patrol confirmed that they were raiding the Hells Angels clubhouse in the area.
