Modesto man, 81, found dead in swimming pool after being out of contact a few days

An 81-year-old Modesto resident was found dead in his home swimming pool Sunday evening after apparently having been in the water at least a couple of days.

Public safety responders went to a home on Sherwood Court, southeast of Sherwood and Bowen avenues, at about 6:15 p.m. after getting a report of a drowning.

“Multiple Drivers Caught Speeding in Merced, Raising Concerns for Public Safety”

Several drivers were caught speeding on Campus Parkway in Merced over the weekend, resulting in multiple citations from the police department. The Merced Police Department reported that three drivers were caught for exceeding the speed limit, with one driver caught going 81 MPH in a 55 MPH zone, another going 95 MPH, and a third going as fast as 118 MPH.

The police department expressed concern about the recklessness displayed by these drivers and emphasized the danger posed by speeding on public roads.

Where Turlock stands on homelessness, COVID response and public safety

With the appointment of Turlock City Manager Reagan Wilson after a comprehensive process, I want to update Turlock residents on their city government.

I visited with Mr. Wilson on his first day of work at City Hall. He was already delving into how our government works and where it can be streamlined and improved to ensure city services are delivered to our residents in the most economical and effective manner. One of his first tasks will be to fill out the ranks of our department directors and to decide if any restructuring of the organization should occur.
