Turlock man killed when pickup crashes into tree in Modesto. No other cars were involved

A Turlock man was killed in Modesto in a solo-vehicle crash near the intersection of Sisk Road and Standiford Avenue in Modesto on Monday morning, according to the Modesto Police Department.

The Stanislaus County Coroner’s Office identified the man as Francisco Perez, 42.

Turlock man dies in Stanislaus County crash

 A Turlock man died in a crash in Stanislaus County Wednesday, according to California Highway Patrol.

The crash happened around 7:30 p.m. along Albers Road, south of Milnes Road. Two people were in a truck heading southbound on Albers Road when the driver swerved off the road and onto the west shoulder. The truck hit a dirt embankment and turned over.

The Mark Gallo Invitational at Central Catholic High School tipped off Tuesday with four games. Modesto’s Beyer, Central Catholic and Downey each earned wins on Day 1 of the tournament. Prince Major (30 points) and Reuben Lewis (27 points) each had impressive scoring nights to lead their teams to wins. Lewis sealed Downey’s first win this season with a pair of free throws.

Don’t have time on your hands to wrap any Christmas presents? Are you simply just bad at wrapping gifts? Well, fear not, as volunteers from Keyes to Learning Charter Academy will be offering free gift wrapping for the next three weeks at the Turlock Certified Farmers Market.

The idea to offer free gift wrapping originated last holiday season when TCFM marketing director Nick Schuller suggested the idea to Lightly Used Books owner Jenni Brannon. The two hosted a day of gift wrapping at the bookstore. This year, Schuller wants to offer the service to more people for more than just a day.
