Turlock Farmers Market: Hummus Heaven, Local Growers and a Saturday on Main Street

Last updated

A container of hummus and bread can be the start of Saturday’s shopping rather than the end of it. Turlock Certified Farmers Market’s recent Hummus Heaven spotlight puts one of its prepared-food vendors beside the growers, bakers and makers who turn Main Street into a weekly market.

Plan a Saturday visit between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. on Main Street between Palm and Center streets. The 2026 season announcement set December 19 as the final market, with a 9 a.m. opening outside the May-September summer schedule. The organizer’s general website and Facebook hours still show 8 a.m.; a 9 a.m. arrival fits both published schedules.

Hummus Heaven Is One Stop Among Many

Hummus Heaven appears in the 2026 vendor directory, and the recent spotlight highlights its hummus and bread. The directory also includes Evola Family Farms, Country Nerd Farm, Ledesma Farms, Flourish Bread, The Bake Shop at Bloomingcamp Ranch, Pageo Lavender Farm and many others.

Vendors rotate through the season. If you are coming for one particular stall, check the market’s latest update or the vendor’s own page before heading downtown.

What Certified Means at This Market

The market explains in its FAQ that fruit, vegetables and eggs in the certified section are grown by the people selling them. Prepared-food vendors and artisans sell alongside that certified farm section.

Its vendor rules require products to be grown, created or enhanced by the seller and exclude commission sellers and brokers. The organizer says most farmers and vendors are from Stanislaus and Merced counties, while allowing an outside vendor when the product is not already represented locally.

How to Use EBT and Ask About Market Match

The market accepts EBT, also called CalFresh or SNAP. Bring your card to the market information booth, choose an amount and receive tokens to spend with eligible vendors. The EBT page places the booth at Main and Thor; the FAQ describes it as in front of Footers.

  • Start at the booth: an EBT card is exchanged for market currency there, rather than assuming every stall has its own card terminal.
  • Ask about Market Match: matching currency is for fresh fruit and vegetables and depends on available funding.
  • Confirm the current cap: the market’s EBT page lists up to $20, while its FAQ lists up to $25. Ask staff which amount applies that day before planning your purchases.
  • Keep the currencies straight: ask which tokens or scrip can buy which products. A produce match is not a blanket discount on every item at the market.

Before Saturdays, It Was Fridays on Broadway

The market’s history starts in early 2010, with Friday markets downtown. The first five seasons were based on Broadway. The location was chosen in part to connect with Westside neighborhoods and make field trips easier for Wakefield and Osborn students.

In 2015, the market moved to Main Street between Center and Palm and switched to Saturday mornings at vendors’ request. That explains why longtime shoppers remember a different day and street. The current Main Street location is a later part of the same organization’s history.

Make It a Downtown Morning

Bring a reusable bag and protect food that needs to stay cold if your visit will continue elsewhere. For restrooms, the market FAQ points shoppers toward downtown businesses serving their customers, so allow for a purchase rather than expecting every shop to operate as a public facility.
