Back to class for local students

The 2023-2024 school year is here for local school districts. As many are prepared to welcome students back this coming week, there have been a handful of local districts who have already opened the classroom doors and have begun learning.

The three local school districts that have already gotten their years underway are Denair Unified, Hilmar Unified and Hughson Unified. Meanwhile, Turlock Unified and Turlock Christian will get things started on Monday and Tuesday, respectively.

Thousands of Modesto City School District students return to class

Thousands of students are back in the classroom in Modesto on Monday.

At Grace Davis High School, the bell to start the day rang at 8:30 a.m., but dozens with the school leadership team arrived hours earlier to decorate the campus.

Get your Back to School Glow Up

For the second consecutive year, a salon in downtown Turlock is giving local children in need an opportunity to ring in the new school year with a fresh cut.

Salon TwoZeroNine, located at 625 E. Main St., will be hosting the Back to School Glow Up from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 6. The event will offer free haircuts to kids while accepting donations of school supplies to award to a local teacher nominated by the community.
