Golden State Boulevard Office Fire Draws a Second Alarm in Turlock

in Public Safety

Last updated

A fire reported at 3:37 a.m. Friday, October 16, sent heavy smoke from the roof of an office building on the 700 block of N. Golden State Boulevard. Firefighters called a second alarm as flames spread through the building, bringing more crews and equipment into the response.

The building houses Western Dental & Orthodontics, according to the Turlock Journal’s follow-up report. Crews brought the fire under control in roughly two hours, then remained at the site to finish extinguishing it and make the area safe.

What Firefighters Reported

The response described in the account shared on our Facebook page included seven engines, a truck, a quint and three battalion chiefs, with additional chief officers. Medic 1, American Medical Response, Turlock Police and the Fire Investigation Unit also responded.

City Water/Sewer and Parks employees assisted with water, runoff and debris management. That work continued beyond the initial attack. Bringing a fire under control and finishing work at a damaged building are separate milestones; the two-hour figure is not the total time crews spent there.

What Is Known So Far

The Stanislaus County Fire Investigation Unit was called to investigate. The incident account and the Journal’s follow-up do not give a cause, damage estimate, reopening date or injury count.

Western Dental patients should contact the practice directly for appointment information. The incident reports do not establish when the office can reopen, or whether a particular appointment has moved.

This Was Separate From the Murray Street Fire

The Journal’s same roundup also describes a different fire, reported Tuesday evening in the 2400 block of Murray Street. Two people were displaced there, and a firefighter with a minor burn was treated and released. Those details belong to the residential incident, not the Golden State Boulevard office fire.

The city’s Fire Department page also lists the October 16 commercial incident in its recent updates.

Where to Find an Official Incident Record

Turlock Fire publishes a services directory with an incident-report request option. That is a useful starting point for an affected owner or someone needing a formal record. It does not mean every investigative finding is already available.

For general workplace prevention, the U.S. Fire Administration recommends clear escape plans, employee familiarity with exits, working alarms and sprinklers, and attention to damaged or overloaded electrical equipment. Those are general precautions, not findings about what caused this fire.
