1 killed in Turlock double shooting, investigation underway

Turlock police are investigating a double shooting that left one dead and another hurt Tuesday evening, according to officials. 

The Turlock Police Department says they are investigating in the 700 block of Wayside Drive and have blocked off roads in the area. Wayside Drive is closed between Kenwood Avenue and N. Olive Avenue with no current estimated time of reopening.

Stanislaus County District Attorney’s Office Senior Investigator Terry Seese said it’s sometimes because they see a need, like paying for a child’s private school tuition or for an elderly parent’s care. They do it when the employer doesn’t have sufficient checks and balances in place to curb the temptation to steal, he added.

Modesto police say 3 people were hit in shooting. 1 badly hurt, no suspect identified

Two men and a woman were shot Monday morning in the area of Tully Road and West Granger Avenue, according to Modesto police. An initial Bee report Monday had only one victim.

Around 11:30 a.m. Monday, police shut down the 1600 block of Tully Road getting reports that told shots were fired and multiple subjects were hit, Police Department spokeswoman Sharon Bear wrote in a message Tuesday.

A police investigation is underway near Turlock Junior High School Thursday morning.

Turlock police say the investigation is not related to the school. Still, police are warning the community that people may see a command post and other associated vehicles near the campus.

One Arrested, Police Seek Info from Public in Fatal Market & South Broadway Shooting

Police in Turlock have opened an investigation into a recent fatal shooting, according to a department media release.

Around 2 AM on Saturday, January 14th, officers responded to the area of Market and South Broadway downtown for a report of a shooting and found evidence that corroborated this report, as well as evidence that at least one person had been struck by gunfire, but no individuals remained at the scene.

Aircraft Emergency Investigation Closes Mitchell Bridge

An investigation into an aircraft emergency closed the northbound lanes of the Mitchell Road Bridge Wednesday afternoon.

At about 1:00pm emergency crews were dispatched to the fields east of the Mitchell Road Bridge north of the Tuolumne River for a report of a plane crash.

Perimeter Search after Robbery in Turlock ends with Shooting

TURLOCK – Police investigating an armed robbery late Wednesday afternoon attempted to stop the person suspected of the robbery who later shot themself.

At about 6:00pm officers with the Turlock Police Department responded to a convenience store on the 400 block of Lander Avenue for a report of a robbery. Officers arriving in the area were later involved in a foot pursuit with the suspect as he was located nearby.

Update: Modesto police investigating shooting death at a Coffee Road strip mall

A man was killed and a suspect arrested in a shooting Friday night in the parking lot of a strip mall on Coffee Road, according to Modesto police.

Officers were dispatched to a report of a person shooting a firearm in the parking lot of 1501 Coffee, near Coolidge Avenue, just before 9 p.m., according to Sgt. Kalani Souza. Radio traffic indicated the shooting was just outside a Mexican food restaurant.

Ceres shooting victim expected to survive. Subject in Dodge pickup sought

The person shot multiple times near the Hatch Road exit of Highway 99 on Friday night in Ceres is expected to survive, a Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Office spokesman said Sunday morning.

Deputies were dispatched about 8:42 p.m. Friday to assist Ceres police officers on a report of a person shot, sheriff’s Sgt. Luke Schwartz said.

‘Not a homicide,’ Modesto police say of death of woman found in car in church parking lot

The death of a woman found in a car in the parking lot of a Modesto church on Saturday afternoon is “not a homicide,” a Modesto Police Department spokesman said Sunday.

It is “classified as a death investigation at this point and will stay as such unless an autopsy says otherwise,” Sgt. Kalani Souza said in a text message to The Bee on Sunday afternoon after the Police Department posted about the case on social media.
