Modesto home converted to pot grow house catches fire

 A Modesto home that had been converted into an illegal marijuana grow house caught fire early Saturday morning.

Modesto Fire crews responded to the scene near Prescott Road and Bangs Avenue and found flames shooting from the attic and roof of the home.

10 people displaced after Stallion Way house fire in Turlock

Ten people were displaced after a fire heavily damaged a home in Turlock, officials said Wednesday.

The Turlock Fire Department said the fire happened shortly after 1:20 p.m. along Stallion Way. Firefighters arrived to find heavy smoke and flames coming from the garage and the front of the home.

House catches fire while illegal fireworks were still being launched early Wednesday morning

On Wednesday, July 5th, 2023, at 1:15 am, the Turlock Fire Department, Modesto Fire Department, Turlock Police Department, Stanislaus Regional Fire Investigation Unit, and American Medical Response were dispatched to a reported structure fire at a residence in the 800 block of N Berkeley Ave, Turlock.

When firefighters arrived on scene, they found heavy fire involvement from a single-story single-family dwelling that appeared to be vacant and under construction.

Turlock woman loses everything in apartment fire while caring for grandchildren

For Patricia Escalante, caring for her grandchildren is nothing new. But after a tragic apartment fire in Turlock took everything they had, she's trying to stay strong while in very unfamiliar territory.

"It ruined everything destroyed everything. We were lucky to get out alive," said Escalante.

Escalante said she noticed the fire coming from her granddaughter's room and felt the heat radiating off the floor.

Family of 7 lost everything in electrical house fire on Memorial Day

A family of seven including five small children said they lost “everything” in an electrical house fire on Memorial Day.

Christopher Gutierrez said his Fiancé Alexis Bustamante was out on Monday picking up one of their kids while Gutierrez was at home washing a new play set he had just bought his kids in their front yard.

No injuries reported after empty home catches fire in Turlock

Firefighters say a house is set to be demolished after it caught fire Tuesday morning in Turlock.

Turlock Fire Department said their crews responded around 9:25 a.m. and arrived to find a fire along the 1600 block of Geer Road that had extended from the first floor to the second.

House fire claims life of Denair man, two young sons

Family and friends of Sergio Inostros Jr., 25, Mason Mulgado, 8, and Bennet Inostros, 3, busied themselves Tuesday washing a line of vehicles outside Denair Market and taking donations to help with the funeral expenses for the three.

Amber Ortega, the sister of Sergio Inostros, said the family is grateful for all the kindness that has been bestowed on them, likening it to “little grains of sand” of comfort to cling to when the waves of grief crashes down on them.

The magnitude of their loss is hard to fathom. Sergio Inostros Jr. and the two young boys lost their lives Sunday when their Denair home went up in flames.
