Holiday tradition continues

For the first time in more than 15 years, Dan Casale, Sr. will not be part of the Downtown Turlock Christmas Parade on Friday, however, his 1950 Farmall M tractor will be.

Casale passed away in October, but his family will be continuing the longtime tradition of lighting up his beloved antique tractor with Christmas lights for the enjoyment of parade goers.

PARADE RETURNS DOWNTOWN

The Turlock Downtown Christmas Parade returned to Main Street on Friday night with scenes from “Christmas in Toyland,” the parade theme for the night. After being cancelled last year due to COVID, hundreds lined Turlock’s downtown streets to take in the spectacle of lights, with appearances from Santa Claus, the Grinch and even a dancing horse or two.

Turlock announces Christmas Parade plans. How are viewing areas a COVID-19 measure?

Turlock plans to resume its Downtown Christmas Parade tradition on Dec. 3, the city announced Thursday, with more COVID-19 safety recommendations than requirements.

The city will not verify COVID-19 vaccination status or negative test results for attendees, which California public health recommends but does not require for such events, said Allison Van Guilder, director of the Parks, Recreation and Public Facilities Department.
