Head-on crash near Don Pedro Reservoir kills man, three women, CHP reports

Four people were killed in a two-vehicle collision Friday, May 31, near Don Pedro Reservoir in Tuolumne County.

The names of the victims were withheld pending notification of family, but a California Highway Patrol release identified them as a Stockton man, 56; a Modesto woman, 66; a Salida woman, 65; and a La Grange woman, 33.

Cyclist dies after being struck by train in Turlock

 A man died in Turlock on Thursday after being struck by a northbound train while riding his bike, according to the Turlock Police Department.

Police found the man at East Main Street and learned that he was struck from behind while crossing the railroad tracks when the crossing arms were down.

Massive tree falls on car at Turlock park, trapping people inside

TURLOCK, Calif. (KTXL) — A massive tree fell on two vehicles at a Turlock park Wednesday night, trapping people inside.

Turlock police said emergency responders were called to Broadway Park around 11:10 p.m.

Photos shared with FOX40 show the tree fell across the top of one of the vehicles, crushing its roof.

Turlock teen and her horse killed by distracted driver

A Turlock teenager died over the weekend from injuries suffered when a pickup truck hit her while she was riding her horse.

Summer Gardner Vigil, 19, had been in a Modesto hospital since the accident on Wednesday. She had suffered a severe brain injury, her family members said.

Her horse, Riggs, died at the scene of the crash.

On Wednesday morning, the young woman was riding on the right shoulder of the westbound lane of East Harding Road, a two-lane rural road near the south edge of Turlock, the California Highway Patrol said.

Teen Girl, Horse Killed After Distracted Driver Plowed Into Them

A 19-year-old California girl died after she was hit by a distracted driver while riding her horse.

On Aug. 11, Summer Gardner-Vigil was riding her horse, Riggs, westbound on East Harding Road near Turlock when a Chevy pickup truck, traveling northbound on Youngstown Road, slammed into them.

"To get a phone call your child has been in a highway accident, to get that call, I didn’t believe it was true," said Summer’s mother Regina Gardner-Vigil.

Big Rig Trailer Collapses In On Itself Along Highway 99 In Turlock

TURLOCK (CBS13) — Traffic is slow on northbound Highway 99 through Turlock due to a big rig trailer that looks like it partially imploded on itself Monday morning.

The accident happened just after 5:30 a.m. right near the W. Main Street on-ramp.

California Highway Patrol says the onramp will be closed for some time as the load is transferred from the damaged truck to a different trailer.

Exactly what caused the trailer to collapse is unclear.

‘Just a phenomenal person’ | San Joaquin corrections sergeant who died in off-duty accident laid to rest

TURLOCK, Calif. — The somber tones of bag pipes outside of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Turlock led a processional of mourners, family, friends and co-workers of Cesar Fuentes, a San Joaquin County correctional sergeant.

Fuentes, 32, was killed Jan. 12 when he was headed home after work and crashed into a pick-up truck in French Camp. Ten days later, Fuentes was buried in the same Turlock community in which he was born.

"He was just a phenomenal person," said Fuentes' sister, Marlene Larios. "He was very funny — little tornado. And he's always wanted to serve since I can remember."

CHP: 4, including infant, hurt in Highway 99 crash near Turlock

Four people, including an infant, were hurt in a crash Sunday night near Turlock, officials say.

The driver was traveling southbound on Highway 99 north of West Main Street in Turlock. There were three passengers, including an infant, when the crash happened around 7:30 p.m., the California Highway Patrol said.

The car at some point moved to the right from the middle lane and lost control, causing a rollover crash, the CHP said. The infant was ejected from the SUV but remained in the carrier.

Victims from fatal head-on identified

The names of the two people killed in a head-on collision on Santa Fe Drive have been released by the Merced County Sheriff’s Department.

The deceased were identified as Margarita Leyva-Alonzo, 47, of Turlock and Gabriel Amaro Rufina, 50, of Turlock.

The collision happened around 5:30 a.m. Oct. 24 on Santa Fe Drive, east of East Avenue in Merced County.

Leyva-Alonzo was driving a 2004 Chevy Venture eastbound on Santa Fe Drive. Headed westbound on Santa Fe was a 2008 Ford Crown Victoria, driven by Charles Everett, 43, of Sacramento.
