Turlock Job Fair Returns Nov. 4; Free Classes Start Next Week

You can work on your résumé from home this month, then take it directly to employers in Turlock on November 4. Two programs the city is promoting give job seekers something concrete to put on the calendar: free Fresno State evening classes starting next week and the annual Turlock Job Fair.

The first date to act on is Monday, October 19, 2026, the start of the week when Fresno State RISE’s next four-week session begins. The job fair follows on Wednesday, November 4, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. They are separate opportunities, and the class session will still be underway when the fair takes place.

Free Classes You Can Take from Home

If you remember the name Parent University, this is the same Fresno State community program under its new name, RISE—Rising Initiative for Success in Education. It serves high school students and adult learners, with courses covering work, technology, family life and other practical skills.

The October session flyer lists no-cost classes on Zoom from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Courses meet twice a week: Monday and Wednesday, or Tuesday and Thursday. That is two evenings each week for four weeks; check which pair of nights applies to the course you choose.

For someone returning to a job search after a long stretch in the same workplace, the useful starting point might be the application itself. Fresno State’s course descriptions include:

  • Professional Development: résumé writing, interview preparation, job searching, networking and career planning.
  • Basic Device Usage: using computers and mobile devices, getting around the internet, Zoom and online safety.
  • Google Workspace Essentials: practice with Drive, Docs, Sheets and Slides.
  • Small Business Development: introductory and advanced options for people considering a business or already running one.
Free Fresno State RISE classes begin the week of October 19, 2026, for four weeks on Zoom from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.; choose Monday and Wednesday or Tuesday and Thursday.

The city’s October announcement also lists financial literacy, college preparation, parenting, wellness and Spanish conversation among the subjects. Participants who successfully complete a course receive a Fresno State completion certificate.

Use the October registration form linked by Fresno State to see the choices. Pick the subject and schedule you can actually attend. If you need help choosing or registering, RISE lists 559-278-0719 for calls and 559-554-2532 for texts.

Meet Employers in Turlock on November 4

The Turlock Chamber’s job fair listing says more than 50 employers are expected at New Life Christian Center, 2918 W. Tuolumne Road, Turlock. The city is organizing the event with California’s Employment Development Department and the Turlock Chamber of Commerce.

Along with employer conversations, the announcement advertises résumé assistance and information about training and career resources. Bring copies of your résumé. For event questions, the announcement names ASims@turlock.ca.us and 209-668-6031.

A little preparation can make those conversations more useful. Before you go, write down the kind of work you want, the hours you can reliably work and how far you can travel. Have one short example ready of a problem you solved, a task you learned or a responsibility someone trusted you with. That gives you something specific to discuss when a recruiter asks about your experience.

Ask About the Worksite and the Next Step

Start with three questions at each table: Where would I work? Which shifts are available? How do I apply and follow up? An employer’s familiar name tells you less than the actual location and hours of the opening.

Ask employers where the worksite is, which shifts are available, and how to apply and follow up. Take notes after each conversation.

Take a note after each conversation, including the position, application link and contact person. If the next step is an online application, ask which job title or reference number to use. You will have a clearer task to complete when you get home than a pile of brochures to sort through.

Taking the bus? Our Turlock Transit guide explains routes, fares and a first ride. Check the trip to the fair and the trip home before setting out. For a broader look at work and commuting, the Turlock FAQ brings together local employment and transportation resources.

Get Help Before the Fair

If you want help sooner, EDD’s job fairs and workshops page lists local and virtual sessions on job searches, résumés, interviews and CalJOBS. Many of its events require a CalJOBS account; check the registration instructions for the particular workshop you select.

For this week, the immediate task is to review the RISE October registration options before classes begin. Then save November 4 for the fair, put your résumé somewhere easy to find and bring the questions you need answered.
