County jobless rate up for five out of last six months

The unemployment rates in Stanislaus County rose again during June, according to the latest data provided by the State of California Employee Development Department, making it five out of the last six months in which regional rates have failed to improve.

In Stanislaus County, the rate rose from 6.4% in May to 6.8% in June, representing approximately 16,600 residents without work.

Unemployment on the rise

The unemployment rates in Stanislaus and Merced counties rose again during the month of June, according to the latest data provided by the State of California Employee Development Department, making it five out of the last six months in which regional rates have failed to improve.

In Stanislaus County, the rate rose from 6.4% in May to 6.8% in June, representing approximately 16,600 residents without work.

Labor Stays Steady In Stanislaus County

The unemployment rate remained unchanged in October, as dips in some sectors were offset by gains in other sectors, according to the latest data from the Employment Development Department.

Stanislaus County had an unemployment rate of 6.9 percent in October, unchanged from the revised rate in September. The rate was below the year-ago estimate of 9.4 percent.

Riverbank came in with a 5.1 percent unemployment rate for October, compared to the 9.3 percent in Oakdale and a 2.1 percent rate recorded for East Oakdale.

Unemployment rate falls slightly in Stanislaus County

The unemployment rate in Stanislaus County dropped during the month of July and continues to be below the year-ago estimate, according to the latest numbers from the Employment Development Department.

The unemployment rate in Stanislaus County in July was at 8.5 percent, down from a revised rate of 8.9 percent in June 2021. It also was below the year-ago estimate of 12.9 percent.

Several sectors posted job gains for the month, with Manufacturing reporting the largest gain. The sector added an estimated 1,800 jobs for the month, with the majority of those coming in food production. Food manufacturing is up by 10.2 percent from the previous year, according to the EDD data.

Unemployment rate continues to drop in Stanislaus County

The unemployment rate in Stanislaus County took another dip in May, according to the latest numbers from the Employment Development Department.

The May unemployment rate came in at 8 percent for Stanislaus County, down from a revised rate of 8.6 percent in April and well below the year-ago estimate of 15.6 percent.

The drop in unemployment has largely been fueled by a reopening of the economy and just about every sector finding they need to hire more people.
