City offers free small business seminars

The City of Turlock will continue its commitment to assist local small businesses with two upcoming free seminars on e-commerce and media relations.

The e-commerce for small businesses workshop will be held in three seminars. The first seminar is set for 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. today and will be an introduction to e-commerce. Understanding the e-commerce landscape and e-commerce platforms and technologies will be covered.

Get set to ‘Sip and Stroll’

The sidewalks of downtown Turlock are expected to be filled on Saturday evening as the second annual Sip and Stroll will be taking place. The 21+ event allows shoppers to enjoy drinks from local breweries and wineries while exploring the small businesses that make up historic downtown Turlock.

Marissa Miranda, owner of Little Red Door on Main Street, was inspired to bring the event to Turlock after seeing the popularity of it in Santa Cruz, where there is another Little Red Door location. She pitched it to her peers, and they were all on board. So was the community, as all 400 tickets sold out.

Calling all small business owners and entrepreneurs: Turlock prepares for first funding expo

Small business owners and entrepreneurs in Turlock will have an opportunity to learn more about funding opportunities at the City of Turlock’s first ever Small Business Funding Expo on Jan. 18.

The event, which is a collaborative effort between the City of Turlock, Valley Sierra Small Business Development Center, Central Valley Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and Stanislaus Equity Partners, hopes to connect members of the public with experts and resources needed to successfully fund or kickstart their endeavors.

California restaurant helps families, veterans with free meals: ‘Small businesses being forgotten about’

One Southern California restaurant is helping families and veterans in the local community by offering free food as Americans battle rampant inflation.

"Big Parm" owner Chef Andrew Gruel joined "Fox & Friends First" Wednesday to discuss his initiative to help those in need and the challenges he faces as a small business owner.

"Food is the great unifier," Gruel told co-host Carley Shimkus. "I saw throughout the pandemic that people were struggling. People were losing their jobs. People were losing their livelihood."

Small Business Rallies In Support Of Colleagues

There’s a small grassroots movement happening at the center of Oakdale and it comes at the hands of small business owners Bear and Allison Walters. The movement, however, has little to nothing to do with their downtown fitness studio, Get Fit Oakdale.

While to some the movement might seem simple, a T-shirt bearing the words “In This Together” down the front with #weareoakdale at the bottom, has generated much buzz. So much so, that the T-shirt sales idea will now roll out to other neighboring cities.

“We’re about to launch it in Turlock, Ripon, Hughson and Escalon as well,” Bear Walters said of the fundraiser they began to benefit local small businesses. “But that’s tied to a business who has a story to those communities like Butler’s Pantry will be the one spearheading for Escalon.”
