Family of Turlock Coach Killed in Crash Sues Teen Driver, Father for up to $10 Million

Family members of Turlock basketball coach Jonathan Williams, who was killed in a crash Dec. 29, have filed a $10 million lawsuit against the teenage driver at fault and his father.

The plaintiffs include the coach’s wife, Belinda Williams, and children, Jaydon, Jamison, Jordan, Jonathan Jr. and Shea. They seek damages in Stanislaus Superior Court for hospital and medical expenses, negligent infliction of emotional distress, loss of wages, grief and other compensatory damages. The suit filed April 16 names Romeil Soheylabady and his son as defendants.

The girl told her social worker what was happening, but the Stanislaus County Community Services Agency did nothing for a month as the abuse continued, the lawsuit alleges.

Turlock Widow Sues Safeway for Husband’s Wrongful Death After Coronavirus Outbreak

The widow of a Safeway employee from Turlock who died from COVID-19 is suing the supermarket company for wrongful death and negligence.

In a lawsuit, Norma Zuniga alleges her husband caught the virus while working in dangerous conditions at Safeway’s Tracy Distribution Center, where at least 51 workers tested positive for COVID-19.

Zuniga is seeking punitive and general damages of an unspecified amount from Safeway and its parent company, Albertsons Companies, according the complaint filed on May 13 in the Alameda County Superior Court. The complaint claims Safeway threatened to discipline Pedro Zuniga and his coworkers when they raised concerns about issues including the lack of personal protective equipment and how closely they worked despite social distancing guidelines.

Juul spokesman Austin Finan told CNN that while the company has not yet reviewed the complaints, they “remain focused on resetting the vapor category in the US and earning the trust of society by working cooperatively with attorneys general, regulators, public health officials, and other stakeholders to combat underage use and convert adult smokers from combustible cigarettes.”
