Friends Feeding Friends Holiday Food Drive

To further support local community food banks and local food pantries during the holiday season, The Save Mart Companies has announced a storewide Friends Feeding Friends community holiday food drive.

As of Wednesday, Nov. 9, customers at all Save Mart, Lucky, and FoodMaxx stores throughout California and Northern Nevada will have the opportunity to easily donate to their community food bank and local food pantry as they check out their groceries.

Local hospitals come together for Healthy Over Hungry Cereal Drive

Emanuel Medical Center in Turlock joined forces with Modesto’s Doctors Medical Center and Manteca’s Doctors Hospital to help local children and adults struggling with hunger.

As part of the Healthy Over Hunger Cereal Drive in early June, the final tallies show that the hospitals and community members donated over 15,000 servings of cereal and more than $3,700. The cereal and the funds will go directly towards Second Harvest of the Greater Valley, which is one of the largest food banks in the Central Valley.

DOT Foods gives to charity food banks

The Dot Foods California distribution center just outside of Ceres on Nickerson Way made a major donation to area food pantries through its Neighbor-to-Neighbor program to help fight hunger. The distribution center invited six local food pantries to select $5,000 worth of products from Dot’s inventory for a combined donation of $30,000 worth of food.

Recipients also included the St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Jude’s Catholic Church in Ceres, Wings of Healing shelter in Stockton, St. Vincent de Paul Society food banks in Modesto and Manteca, Oak Valley Hospital in Oakdale, and the New Life Christian Center in Turlock.
