The city canceled its Fourth of July fireworks show in 2019. Since then, its festivities were anchored by the annual parade and car show in downtown. Now, five years later, they won’t be doing all the work themselves.

Who doesn’t love a good tamale, or making money? Stanislaus County residents can get their fair share of the Mesoamerican treat at the inaugural California Tamale Festival in the fall — and maybe even get a job in the process.
Riverbank resident Armando Duldulao is putting on the event, which will take place Oct. 15 between noon and 7 p.m. at the Stanislaus County Fairgrounds in Turlock. Aside from a host of activities and entertainment (and plenty of shopping), visitors can attend a job fair that will be held during the event.
