Friends Feeding Friends Holiday Food Drive

To further support local community food banks and local food pantries during the holiday season, The Save Mart Companies has announced a storewide Friends Feeding Friends community holiday food drive.

As of Wednesday, Nov. 9, customers at all Save Mart, Lucky, and FoodMaxx stores throughout California and Northern Nevada will have the opportunity to easily donate to their community food bank and local food pantry as they check out their groceries.

Lyle Lovett returning to Modesto region. Here’s where, when you can see him perform

Lyle Lovett brings along John Hiatt for a show at Turlock Community Theatre. The Gallo Center for the Arts hosts Lila Downs and Engelbert Humperdinck. The performers make up just part of the top entertainment planned in the Modesto region from Nov. 5-11.

Downtown Turlock to display Youth Art banners from Carnegie

Turlock’s Carnegie Arts Center (CAC) is opening its 11th exhibition season this fall, and to kick off a new year full of fun and creativity, it held a contest for artwork created by young artists on the theme of “My California” – highlighting something they love about the Golden State.

“Because Turlock is really the heart of our state, we thought an art display in our downtown would be a great way to show what makes California special,” said CAC Director Lisa McDermott. “The response to our banner contest last year was so great, we decided to open up this fun opportunity again.”

2022’s Homecoming Parade

Following the highly anticipated Harvest Bowl and Homecoming week’s dress-up days was this year’s Homecoming parade. This year’s theme was “We’ve Got the Beat,” and all the participating floats definitely did! Choir, FFA, GSA, Young Americans, NJROTC, and the classes of 2023-2026 all signed up to create their own floats.

There was also a long list of clubs and sports that signed up for walking in the parade, such as Animation Nation, Band, Girls Basketball, Cheer, Cross Country, Games Club, HOSA, HYLC, International Club, Kindness Club, Smart Start, Girls Tennis, and Water Polo.

Comic Con returns to Eureka after 3 year absence

For the first time since 2019, Ohana Comic Con will be hosting a convention this week at the Red Lion Hotel in Eureka this weekend.

Highlighting the event will be appearances from voice actor Mark Dodson and original Star Wars cast member Alan Fernandes, as well as the various cosplay contests that are sure to draw plenty of colorful entrees.

Coordinated Banner Drops And Outreach Across Northern California Pushes Back Against White Supremacist Activity

On Saturday, October 15th, anarchist and antifascist crews networked across the bay area and the central valley of so-called California to carry out a coordinated day of banner drops, flyering, stickering, and the distribution of literature across cities including Turlock, Modesto, Stockton, Davis, Sacramento, Berkeley, Oakland and Nevada County.

This action was carried out in response to ongoing neo-Nazi and white supremacist activity in the area under the banner of “White Lives Matter,” which has taken place in the middle of every month throughout 2022.

Music festival, cannabis expo in Turlock featuring Wiz Khalifa and E-40 canceled

TURLOCK, Calif. (KTXL) — A music festival and cannabis expo set to take place in Turlock was canceled a day before it was supposed to start. 

Dazed on the Green organizers said the cancellation was due to a health and safety “significant risk.”

Wiz Khalifa, E-40 to perform in Turlock at music festival and cannabis expo

TURLOCK, Calif. (KTXL) — Rap artists Wiz Khalifa and E-40 are some of the names who will perform at the Dazed on the Green Music Festival and Cannabis Expo this weekend in Turlock. 

According to the event’s Instagram page, the event will take place on Saturday and Sunday at the Stanislaus County Fairgrounds with Khalifa as the headliner on the latter day. E-40 is on Sunday’s lineup that includes other hip-hop acts Cypress Hill and Bone Thugs & Harmony.
