BOWLING, GAMES & GROUP OUTINGS

Ten Pin Fun Center brought bowling back to Turlock after a 22-year absence. Today, the Countryside Drive venue combines 34 lanes with an arcade, laser tag and a restaurant—enough for a birthday party, a family afternoon or an evening that carries on after the last frame.

What can you do at Ten Pin?

Bowling is the main attraction, with 34 lanes, including eight VIP lanes. The VIP section offers a different setting for a group booking; it is worth asking about availability when arranging a party. For an ordinary bowling visit, the operator allows up to six guests on a lane.

You can also come for the games or a meal. The arcade includes ticket and prize redemption, while the laser-tag arena adds a separate activity for people who would rather move around than wait for their turn at the lane. Laser tag has its own operating hours, so an 11 a.m. bowling visit does not automatically mean the arena is open.

The restaurant menu goes beyond snack-counter food: pizzas, wings, burgers, fish tacos, sandwiches and salads are among the choices. There are children’s items, three full-service bars and an outdoor beer garden. A group can bowl and eat here without making a second stop.

How bowling prices work

You can pay by the hour for a lane or by the game for each player. Shoe rentals are separate.

  • Weekday daytime: the listed Monday–Friday, 11 a.m.–4 p.m. rate is $35 per lane per hour, or $5 per person per game.
  • Monday–Thursday evenings: the listed 4–11 p.m. rate is $50 per lane per hour, or $8 per person per game.
  • Weekend and holiday bowling: the listed hourly lane rate is $65, beginning Friday at 4 p.m.
  • Rental shoes: $5 per person. Socks are listed separately at $2.

For example, six people sharing a $35 lane for one hour, with $5 shoe rentals each, would spend $65 before food, tax or other charges—about $10.83 apiece.

The bowling page has the rate details; the specials page is useful before deciding which day to go. Ten Pin currently advertises half-price arcade credits on Tuesdays, and its weekday food and bowling offers can make an otherwise routine weeknight a better value.

Hours: the building and the arena differ

The venue’s posted hours are Monday–Thursday, 11 a.m.–11 p.m.; Friday–Saturday, 11 a.m.–1 a.m.; and Sunday, 11 a.m.–9 p.m.

The laser-tag schedule starts at 3 p.m. Monday–Friday and noon on weekends. It ends at 10 p.m. Monday–Thursday, 11 p.m. Friday, midnight Saturday and 8 p.m. Sunday. The listed price is $8 per person per round.

Birthday parties, work groups and leagues

For a birthday or a larger gathering, use Ten Pin’s party inquiry page rather than treating a regular lane reservation as a complete party package. Ask which activities, food, shoe rentals and private spaces are included in the quoted arrangement. The venue offers private event spaces and catering options.

Bowling can become a regular activity, too. Ten Pin’s league information is the starting point for joining an organized group instead of booking occasional open-bowling visits.

Why its opening mattered to Turlock

Turlock’s previous bowling venue, Divine Gardens—later known as The Gardens—closed in 1997. Ten Pin’s public soft opening on May 14, 2019 ended a gap of roughly 22 years. The finished center was reported as a 62,000-square-foot, $18 million project.

Getting there took years. The Turlock Journal’s opening coverage describes an earlier plan, approved in 2010, for a site on Monte Vista Avenue opposite Stanislaus State. That version lost its financial backing in 2014. New local investors revived the project on Countryside Drive, where construction began in July 2017.

Some of its familiar details were made locally. The Journal documented the exterior metal silhouettes of bowlers and bowling balls made by Steel Works, along with interior signs created by Matt and Candace Gonsalves’s Rustic Metal Designs. The laser-tag arena followed the bowling opening in July 2019.

Where it fits in a day out

Ten Pin is north of West Monte Vista Avenue on Countryside Drive, in northwest Turlock. The shops in Monte Vista Crossings around West Monte Vista Avenue are close enough to pair errands with bowling. For the bookstore and recent restaurant openings nearby, see New & Notable.
